Twins

I recently had a conversation with a fraternal twin. She said that her brother was a math whiz and spends his time teaching. I asked if they were close, and she said that they were. Although their personalities were different. We talked about the difference between fraternal and identical twins and compared notes. Fraternal twins don’t always look exactly alike where identical twins do.

I have a womb mate myself. We are identical. Twins inevitably share life. They share the same birthday, the same homeroom, the same graduating class. We even shared our first car when we turned 16. We share an unspoken twin communication in that we simply know when we need to pick up the phone to talk, even when living miles apart. We can sense things. Maybe that is part of what makes being a twin so special.

I was talking to Holy Spirit about our relationship. His and mine. Our relationship is honest. He knows everything about me. Warts and all. Yet chooses me. Loves me. Spends time with me. Our relationship grows with each little bit that I reach out and include Him in my life. Each time I trust Him. Each time that I am obedient and do what He asks of me. My faith grows. My understanding grows. Perhaps my patience.

The truth is we are all intricately linked together.

Ephesians 3:16-19 says: I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Those who choose Jesus are immediately linked with one another. We live life together. And we are filled with the fullness of God.  That’s heady stuff! And something else we twins share!
